You cannot be in an accident today, take out a car insurance policy tomorrow and expect cover! Similarly, you should have Legal Insurance in place before the date upon which your legal problem starts.

Paying a monthly premium of R289 adds up to R3 468.00 per year. A private lawyer will cost around R2 500 for a single 30-minute consultation! You will also be charged for each call, letter etc. and a lot of money to fight it out in Court! But with our low monthly premium, you can call your Legal Hero any time with no extra charge.
An Uncontested Divorce refers to where the spouses can agree on the consequences of the divorce and can set them out in a settlement agreement for a quicker uncontested/unopposed divorce.
A Contested Divorce refers to where the spouses are unable to agree on the consequences of the divorce and need to battle it out in court. This divorce takes longer to finalise.

Apply to become a Legal Hero policyholder
We require a fully completed and signed Legal Hero application form. We do not keep marriage certificates and other personal information on file during capturing stage, but may request same from you should your spouse request legal assistance at a later stage. Legal Hero might also request to see a birth certificate of a child in instances where the surnames do not match.

Should you feel dissatisfied with any aspect of your dealings with Legal Hero you can lodge a complaint using the steps below:
- Preferably submit your complaint and ID/policy number in writing, including as much information of your dissatisfaction as possible. This includes the staff member/s involved, your case or product details, any supporting documents and the relevant dates/ times relevant to your dissatisfaction. The reason for your dissatisfaction must be clear in order for Legal Hero to investigate diligently;
- You may send your complaint to ,fax 0865512705 or post to Legal Hero, P.O. BOX 5554, Tygervalley, 7536. Should you be unable to submit in writing, a telephone voice recording of your complaint will be reduced to writing by the officer assigned to attend to your complaint;
- You will receive an SMS confirming that your complaint has been received, the name of the person dealing with your complaint and confirmation that the relevant assigned staff member will contact you telephonically within 2 working days;
- You may escalate the matter internally and change the person dealing with your complaint where he/she did not attend to your complaint as per the 3/7/14 day diary period (to receive feedback/ assistance) as mentioned above. Simply follow the same steps as per point 2 and advise that you wish to escalate the matter.

Should you have a complaint against the intermediary (e.g. a broker/ sales person selling you the product) the complaint may be lodged with FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority) .

If you are beyond your first 30 days of joining and wish to cancel your policy, please inform us in writing by sending an email to admin@legalhero.co.za
Important to take note of:
If the e-mail address you use to request the cancellation is the same as the e-mail address registered on our system, it qualifies as a valid written cancellation. If the mail is sent from a different e-mail address, one would need a signature of the principal policyholder. Spouses are prohibited to cancel the policy on behalf of the principal policyholder (their spouse) without the authorisation to do so. For example, you also cannot send an email requesting to cancel your policy from a general internet café mailbox. In such cases we would request the following document to printed out and signed: Additional information as contained in the cancellation form that one can print out, fill in and sign must be done in writing.
The policyholder understands that, in terms of the Legal Hero policy wording, the policyholder may cancel the policy in writing by way of 30 (Thirty) days written notice. If the policyholder’s next premium deduction date is less than 30 (Thirty) days away, there will be one further and final premium deduction. The policyholder understands that they can cancel the authorisation at their HR/Finance Department directly.
I furthermore understand that, by cancelling this policy, I lose the following benefits:
- 24/7 access to an emergency arrest line should I be arrested
- Potential cashback
- Tailormade contracts, waiting periods, etc.
I understand that I will not be considered for cover and possibly pay thousands of rands for legal fees regarding Labour Law matters (CCMA/Labour Court if dismissed, etc.), Family Law matters (maintenance inquiries/divorce, etc.), Civil Law matters (motor vehicle accidents/creditors take action, etc.) and/or Criminal Law matters.
