Our Story
Legal Hero (Pty) Ltd is an authorized financial services provider with license number 45377, acting as the binderholder for Guardrisk Insurance Company Ltd with financial services provider number 75.
Background
Early 2014 Advocate Ben Myburgh recognized the need for proper service delivery to restore some faith in the legal cost insurance landscape. He decided to put his (then) 12 years’ experience within the industry to good use and founded Legal Hero with Simone Steinmair and Advocate Carl Timothy.
Legal Hero’s collective vision is to create, promote and service high quality yet affordable legal products and attempt to assist those who could otherwise not afford to protect their rights. They partnered up with state of the art administration technology leader, Phakama (founded in 1987) in order to overcome shortcomings within the mass production-driven legal cost insurance industry.
Some of these shortcomings are poor service delivery, inexperienced LLB graduates, inadequate legal education and shocking client care services. Legal Hero’s aim is to ensure efficiency and do away with unnecessary, expensive and heavy internal infrastructure. This allows Legal Hero to focus on the real issue at hand: affordable legal cost insurance of exceptional quality and integrity.

An Uncontested Divorce refers to where the spouses can agree on the consequences of the divorce and can set them out in a settlement agreement for a quicker uncontested/unopposed divorce.
A Contested Divorce refers to where the spouses are unable to agree on the consequences of the divorce and need to battle it out in court. This divorce takes longer to finalise.

- Removal of Debt Review where there is a court order and the Debt Counsellor followed all the rules

- When you incurred private legal fees by using your own attorney not appointed by Legal Hero in writing
